New luxury additions at SCHLOSS Roxburghe in the Scottish Borders

With the opening of the new Estate House this month, SCHLOSS Roxburghe is undergoing a significant redevelopment that includes the addition of 58 new rooms, a purpose-built banqueting suite, comprehensive spa amenities, and a number of cottages scattered across the grounds. This exciting new expansion for the hotel is just one of a number of new planned additions for this historic estate in the Scottish Borders that was formerly owned by the Duke of Roxburghe.

Estate House

The hotel will have 58 more rooms when the Estate House opens in November, more than doubling its present room capacity of 20. The rooms will provide contemporary comfort and some of the estate’s finest views. Guests will be able to enjoy their own private balcony and sink into the comfort of a luxurious four-poster bed. Additionally, a specially-constructed banqueting hall with a capacity for more than 120 guests, and floor to ceiling windows with views of the golf course, will be developed.

Dogs are welcome at the Estate House, just as they are in the main manor house. Dog owners may book rooms with their canine companions and individual dog baskets and homemade dog treats are provided.

SCHLOSS Spa

As part of the expansion, a brand-new 1,100 square-metre spa facility is also debuting this month. It will feature a heated outdoor infinity edge pool with LED lighting and an underwater speaker sound system, indoor and outdoor relaxation rooms, a second plunge pool, and a fitness centre. Three treatment rooms and a built-in Finnish dry sauna are also available.

The sauna is partially buried in the ground and has a larch external finish, with huge landscape windows to take in the views. There is also an aromatic sauna where you can emit your very own fragrant aroma for a completely unique experience. The spa’s holistic approach will put more of an emphasis on overall wellbeing, awareness, and rejuvenation than just treating the body. Both visitors and local residents can use the spa.

Cottages

With the opening of 12 additional cottages, situated in the lovely woodland on the SCHLOSS Roxburghe estate, guests will have more lodging options from this month. For small golfing groups who wish to travel to the Championship Golf Course, the two-bedroom self-catering cottages are ideal because they are only a short distance from the fantastic activities provided throughout the resort.

Families may also like to consider the cottages as they provide a greater sense of solitude and space. Some of them even have their own personal saunas. In the coming years, 49 more cottages will be added to the collection, with a mix of one- and two-bedroom options. The last house will be finished in 2024.

Charlie’s Restaurant

The new Charlie’s Restaurant boasts a wonderful terrace and will serve up the best Scottish bistronomy. The concept of bistronomy, which has its roots in France, emphasises employing the finest products and artisanal cooking methods whilst still enjoying a casual, comfortable setting. The idea for “Scottish Bistronomy” emerged from the hotel’s aim to develop a concept that highlights the best foods and products available in the Scottish Borders while taking a comprehensive approach to the “Estate to plate” notion.

Shooting Centre

The Shooting Centre has re-opened with 10 new traps for visitors to try. The centre is a great place for all abilities to learn, and is situated in the lovely, rolling parkland of SCHLOSS Roxburghe.

Clay pigeon shooting, a classic skill game that tests hand-eye coordination and response time, has been shown to have numerous positive effects on both physical and mental health, including balance, muscle strength and mental wellness.
