Fauchon Hospitality Opens Its Second Hotel, Fauchon L’Hotel Kyoto

Fauchon L’Hotel Kyoto is now welcoming guests, becoming the second hotel for the Fauchon Hospitality brand and the first outside of France. The property, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, is located in the Shimogyo-ku district (home to the busiest shopping district in the city). The opening of the hotel also marks the brand’s 50-year presence in Japan.

The 70-room Fauchon L’Hotel Kyoto will be similar to its Parisian sister hotel, incorporating a Gourmet Bar in each room and suite, Le Grand Café Fauchon, the Fauchon Salon de Thé, a Fauchon Patisserie and Boutique at street level, Le Spa Fauchon and, for the first time, a Fauchon Bar.

The new, like the Fauchon L’Hotel in Paris, features a magenta, black and gold color scheme with nods to its Japanese location. As an example, there are black painted bamboo accents on the walls, Sakura petals incorporated in many design elements and Washi paper (used in Origami) on the wall above the headboards in the guestrooms. Another design element is the bedside lighting, which represents the French mille-feuille pastry.

Fauchon chefs have worked to incorporate Japanese flavors and culinary elements into the hotel’s French dishes and patisserie to provide a modern twist on French and Japanese cuisine. The hotel will also offer a Japanese Tea Ceremony, incorporating traditional Japanese elements with Fauchon touches like a pink tea pot and macarons, along with a special tea blend. Fauchon is also partnering with a Japanese bakery partner, Izutsu, to create a special Yatsuhashi pastry, a traditional Japanese sweet that will be offered only in the hotel and can be enjoyed at teatime. Available at the Fauchon Bar will be a special beer, “La Delicieuse,” recreated in partnership with Tango Beer of Japan; it was originally served back in the 1940s.

Fun: L’Hotel Kyoto will offer a complimentary macaron of the day available throughout the hotel for guests to enjoy.
