Check out these luxury hotels in Vietnam as COVID restrictions are removed

As borders throughout the region are finally starting to re-open, Vietnam becomes the latest country to welcome tourists back. With testing no longer required, Vietnam is firmly back on the radar for everyone who is planning a Southeast Asian adventure. As UK citizens, we can now travel visa free with 15 days once again being offered to many countries upon arrival, meaning now is certainly the time to head to this wonderful country which has so much to offer.

Check out these luxury hotels in Vietnam which all opened either just before, or during the pandemic, meaning they are excited to fully open their doors to international guests, and are sure to go above and beyond to make for a memorable stay.

Maia Resort Quy Nhon

Quy Nhon is a Vietnamese coastal city that is relatively new to tourism. This makes it a very different experience to the sprawling beach city of Nha Trang which is located less than 100km to the south. If you are looking to get off ‘the beaten path’ and explore an untrodden destination, then a stay at Maia Resort Quy Nhon could be just what you’re looking for. With a flight time of less than one hour from Ho Chi Minh City, Maia Resort Quy Nhon offers the perfect weekend getaway, or for a longer escape for those who like to take things slowly.

The 94-villa resort had a soft launch in late 2020, before a grand opening in December 2021 which saw the final villas available for booking. Ranging from one bedroom to three bedroom with many boasting plunge pools and private gardens, you can expect various ocean hues and an earthy colour palette throughout the modern and stylish villas. The link to the earth continues throughout the property with the use of reclaimed elements such as preserved driftwood, copper, and rattan making up the core materials used for the overall design.

The gastronomically driven Maia Resort Quy Nhon develops on Fusion’s original wellness focus by expanding the culinary offering, meaning that guests can enjoy dinner or lunch, in addition to their complimentary breakfast as part of their room rate. There are two restaurants to select from, the casual all-day dining restaurant V? and the intimate Ad Hoc. Alternatively, for those that prefer to pamper themselves, they can select an indulgent spa therapy instead of dinner or lunch as part of the nightly rate. Maia Resort Quy Nhon boasts an expansive and inviting swimming pool, and modern fitness centre stocked featuring the latest international equipment.

Alma Cam Ranh

Cam Ranh has seen many new hotels and resorts opening during the last ten years, following the opening of the international airport in 2010 and offers an upscale alternative to nearby Nha Trang. Alma Cam Ranh is one of the newest openings on this emerging peninsula in southeast Vietnam. Having initially opened in December 2019, the pandemic forced Alma to temporarily close during April and May of 2020, and for eight months in the second half of 2021, before the resort fully re-opened January 15 2022.

Alma Cam Ranh is located within an impressive 30 hectares of inspiring grounds, and offers 580 contemporary and oversized suites and pavilions that all boast sweeping ocean vistas. The stunning three bedroom oceanfront pavilions, totalling 224 square metres complete with  living room, kitchen, four bathrooms and private pool are perfect for a family who enjoy space, privacy and seclusion.

The resort features multiple restaurants helmed by top chefs, a food court with a wide array of local and international cuisine, as well as a sports bar, pool bar and beach bar, ensuring that every culinary preference can be catered for. With 12 swimming pools, an expansive spa, cinema, convention centre, amphitheater, art gallery, science museum, gymnasium, yoga room, putting green, youth club, kids club, water sports centre and even a mini supermarket, the resort has every option imaginable to keep you and your family entertained and occupied during your stay.

Azerai Ke Ga Bay

Located 180km east of Ho Chi Minh City and just along the coast from Phan Thiet, the elegant and secluded oceanfront retreat Azerai Ke Ga Bay is a small and perfectly formed resort from the excellent Azerai brand. In fact, it’s their first beachfront resort, following on from the success of Azerai La Residence in Hue, a historic riverside hotel in the former imperial capital, and Azerai Can Tho, a tropical retreat set on a peaceful islet in the Mekong River Delta.

Opening in November 2020, Azerai Ke Ga Bay offers 46 suites and villas, some with plunge pools or more spacious private pools, on a sweeping, five kilometre white sand beach, the secluded location provides a tranquil setting, ideal for relaxation and rejuvenation. With Hon Ba Island, and its historic 1899-built colonial French lighthouse, to the north and soaring sand dunes to the south, Azerai Ke Ga Bay cultivates one of the most naturally splendid oceanfront settings in Vietnam.

Fusion Suites Vung Tau

Vung Tau in southern Vietnam is just a short trip by boat or road from Ho Chi Minh City, making it the perfect location for those that wish to escape the bustling city and head to the beach. Fusion Suites Vung Tau opened in July 2020 and is Fusion’s newest hotel. The 19-storey property features 171 well-appointed suites and apartments, a multitude of dining options, a spa, yoga studio, and rooftop infinity pool. In fact, Fusion Suites Vung Tau offers two pools with the other located within the ‘Maia Spa’, where guests can enjoy a selection of signature therapies based around salt.

The property offers a multitude of expansive ocean views, and complements the coastal setting with interiors dressed in sea green, ocean blue, and a wide range of ocean inspired tones throughout. For dining options, guests can enjoy ‘Fresh’ restaurant (which is open all day), the rooftop poolside bar, and a selection of market style stalls in the hotel lobby.
